About the role:

As the Political Director for Avalanche, you will lead the strategy and the delivery of our electoral work. You will be responsible for developing and implementing political impact strategy with an emphasis on the 2020 cycle. This roles combines the development of our political strategy, building the partner and client relationships, and serving as strategic consultant in the delivery of much of our work. This is not just a sales role -- this is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing and delivering much of the most important work we do. 

About you:

You are an experienced political strategist with a proven track record of leading strong teams to exceptional results. You intricately understand the needs and perspectives of our customers and possess a deep and diverse network of campaigns, causes, and funders. You have substantial experience in campaign research and message creation and think deeply about the role of understanding audiences in the creation of campaign strategy and messaging. You are excited by the opportunity to lead our rapidly growing portfolio of political work in support of maximum impact in 2020 and beyond

  • Lead the development of our political impact strategy, including our 2020 strategy specifically but also with an eye towards ongoing impact

  • Close major partnerships required to execute this strategy, with the support of our senior leadership team

  • Lead the delivery of significant projects for political clients aligned with the strategy 

  • Conduct ongoing customer discovery to contribute to product development

  • Serve as a member of the senior leadership team shaping the overall corporate strategy

Qualifications & Qualities:

Successful candidates will have all of the following:

  • 5+ years experience in senior political strategy and communications roles both within campaigns and as a consultant supporting campaigns

  • Significant experience and skill leveraging research to support campaign strategy and messaging

  • Significant experience in team and organizational leadership

  • A deep and diverse network of potential clients, collaborators, and funders

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group (executives, managers, and subject matter experts)

  • Exceptional strategic and project management skills, with the ability to execute complex projects on time, on budget, and often above expectations. 

This position is based in either Vancouver B.C. or Washington, D.C., so you should be here or able to relocate.
