About the role:
As the Product Manager at Avalanche and as part of a cross-functional team, you’ll have control over your our product roadmap, and support from dedicated engineers and designers. You’ll collaborate closely with our CTO and cofounders to conceive and ship products that maximize our impact in 2020 and beyond.
You are an experienced product manager with a proven track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams through designing, developing, and shipping exceptional products. You excel working at the intersection of understanding the needs of your users and the technical constraints defined by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and social scientists. In particular:
You excel in an early-stage tech startup — you prioritize high leverage decisions, and are eager to both develop brand new solutions and to refine existing solutions
You thrive on a multidisciplinary team --- you’re able to confidently provide the expertise that sets you apart, and you value the perspective of experts in other areas
You care deeply about the social, cultural, and political dimensions of our work
You understand communication, trust, and morale affect performance above all else.
Build a roadmap for the product that builds on the substantial technical development and client discovery that’s driven our innovation and development to date
Learn the needs of internal users and the priorities for external users, and use this knowledge to identify the best opportunities to leverage technology to improve growth, usability and impact.
Own the vision for the product, working with key stakeholders to ensure that that vision aligns with the broader business strategy.
Manage ideation, creation, launch and roll-out of Avalanche products — including measuring success.
Advance processes and systems for product thinking across the company
Qualifications & Qualities:
Successful candidates will have all of the following:
Have at least three years of experience in product management, ideally in startups where you’ve seen things scale (and break); title and compensation commensurate with experience.
Are equally comfortable crafting product strategy, and getting hands-on in the tactical execution
Understand how to incorporate engineering constraints into product choices and be able to dive deep into technical tradeoffs in order to do so
A technical background is a big plus, while experience working with technical teams is required
Bring a strong orientation towards user-design thinking and the applied skills to feedback loops to connect theory to practice across the organization
Strong project management skills that enable the product strategy to be executed efficiently and effectively with a multidisciplinary team in a startup environment
Are obsessed with delivering an amazing end-user experience.
This position is based in either Vancouver B.C. or Washington, D.C., so you should be here or be able to relocate.
