Avalanche delivers the deep qualitative insight associated with a focus group, but at the scale of polling. Over the last year, Avalanche has provided transformative insight to dozens of the biggest organizations in progressive politics, to build the understanding necessary to resonate, mobilize and win. We’ve collected millions of data points from hundreds of thousands of Americans, and continue to draw from and create the cutting edge in public opinion research.
About the Role:
As a Sample Statistician, you will be responsible for collecting and curating our most valuable resource: our data. Working closely with an ad buyer, you will develop, assess, and execute, our holistic data acquisition strategy, to allow Avalanche to listen to the people it needs quickly, reliably, and accurately.
You have a proven track record of collecting, curating, and validating high-quality samples for research, based on best practices and industry-quality models. You have been in charge of high volume and always-on pipelines, and can produce not just a single valid sample, but a pipeline to support a constant stream of national clients. In approaching this task, you are comfortable exploring the literature as well as striking out on your own, and know which to do when. You thrive in a fast-paced, client-driven, and constantly changing work environment; and are genuinely excited about the social, cultural, and political dimensions of our work.
Using all available methods, distribute deep-listening surveys to tightly targeted samples across the country, to deliver on short and long-term contracts with clients, and internal research.
Validate the contents of the sample and its ability to represent the target audience, weighting or subsetting to fit the circumstances, with all the mathematical rigor that is appropriate for national politics
Test multiple channels for acquisition, and assess them in terms of price, speed, quality, and other relevant attributes.
Assist the ad buyer in targeting their buys to achieve the desired samples.
Continually optimize our methods to improve price, speed, quality, reach, etc.
